My form of therapy….

Since I was a little girl I have enjoyed journaling.

Never “dear diary” or just random notes but instead letters to God.

Since my creator created me with feelings, I always felt it appropriate to share them and found writing them down the most effective means to do so.

Fast forward to decades later and now I have tubs and tubs of journals containing answered prayers and my life’s reflections.

Journaling for me is therapy, yet now as a mom, a nutritionist, an athlete, and an avid podcaster, my thoughts need order as well as therapy and reflection.

Enter the Monk Manual.

Literally.

I was sitting writing my to-do list for the day while checking my email and in came an email from the Monk Manual company to see if I would be interested in trying it out.

Would I???!!!

When I looked it up it seemed to be everything I needed – a day planner and journal all in one!

Fast forward again to now where I have been utilizing my Monk Manual for over 30 days and I’m absolutely smitten with it.

Here’s why.

  1. I carve out 3 days at a time in one section. Which I love. Because some days life gets in the way and you may not be able to journal. However in the span of 3 days I absolutely love moments where I can sit down, reflect, add to my to-do list and cross some stuff off. The 90 day planner style works for me, working on my week 3 days at a time.
  2. The positive reflections of “my biggest accomplishments that week” and “3 things I look forward to”. It keeps me hopeful and reminds me to look for and record those milestones.
  3. And since I already loved to write letters to God, I was stoked to see in the manual the “one thing God is teaching me” section. My Creator definitely teaches me lessons each week so it’s nice to see those in writing and acknowledge that I am listening and working on aspects of myself to serve my Creator more fully.
  4. I am a list-maker! Moms and really all of us in general have the never ending to-do list and I am one of those weird people that get my kicks by marking off my to-do list each day.
  5. Habit insights to adhere or maybe not? I like to start to try new habits but this way of reflecting actually has helped me to be insightful that some are not as beneficial as I had thought they would be. This manual has helped me not be so obsessive about some habits and to release others that are no longer serving me.

Some other features I love:

  • the beauty and simple design of the leather bound cover.
  • The month-in-advance planning section.
  • The dot section for dot journaling.
  • The commitment card that comes with it to help you commit to journaling for 90 days.

What time of day and where do I like to journal?

This gorgeous day planner/ journal goes with me everywhere I go but my favorite time and place is sitting in front of my red light first thing in the morning and hashing our my thoughts and my day….and I have find my day to day life has improved because of it.

Now more than ever its important to let go or what doesn’t serve us in this world and simplify our thoughts and our existence. The Monk Manual has helped me do that and I can assure you it will help you too.
