What Foods Are Aging You…

I know, I know, as a Nutrition Educator, I can be a kill-joy sometimes…. but if you’ve been wondering why your skin seems to be aging faster lately, I do want to point out to you the most damaging foods that are causing us to age faster, get sick & tired more frequently (because they go hand in hand now) as well put on some more rolls and fluff here and there.

So how are you aging these days?

Let’s start by noticing that when you remove the prefix to the word “damaging” you get “aging”.

The following foods have been shown to contribute to a life of sickness, fatigue, inability to lose weight in addition to prematurely aging your cells (the trillions of cells of which you are made of) causing more than just wrinkles, but also Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, and even Cancer.

Eliminating these foods will be less “aging” to your body:

Artificial sweetener

Hydrogenated oils (aka fast food or processed foods – yes even Triscuits) 

Chemicals like MSG, BHT, EDTA, and frankly if they have to abbreviate the food substance because the name is so hideously long, just don’t eat it.

Most of you have heard about the above, but perhaps you didn’t know what seemingly healthy foods contain these “aging” foods.

  • Whole wheat bread
  • Whole grain anything
  • Sprouted grain anything
  • Corn (how do they fatten cattle?)
  • Veggie chips, veggie straws, veggie puffs and anything you honestly know is not really a veggie at all.
  • any Artificial Sweetener (aka sucralose, ace-k, acesulfame-potassium, Splenda, aspartame, nutrasweet, Truvia, saccharin, high fructose corn syrup,etc)
  • crackers (processed food stuffs like crackers, chips and pretzels contain no nutrition and actually contain something known as “anti-nutrients” which pull important minerals out of your body that your cells need to regenerate properly.)
  • Chips (did you know Doritos has 6 forms of MSG which is a flavor enhancer that kills brain cells)
  • Pretzels (Gluten in many processed foods elevates your blood sugar higher than table sugar because of something known as “amylopectin” and increases inflammation vastly.)
  • Anything made with “partially hydrogenated oils” including most salad dressings, mayos, bbq sauces, marinades, and most store-bought processed peanut butters. 
  • These oils include: soybean oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil which many “so called” healthy food companies are putting in food.
  • ALL FAST FOOD since they use hydrogenated oils (I have a friend in the business of selling to them so I know the inside scoop) 
  • Most restaurants as well with only specific organic or farm to table ones actually cooking in butter or coconut oil. 

By simply starting to be your own Nutritionist and eliminating the sources of your “aging” foods, here’s what you can expect:

–Energy enhancement 

–A Pep in your step

–Weight loss

–No more painful joints and inflammation gone

–Less mood swings

–Less gut issues

–More good poos 

–Improved sleep

–Improved skin tone

–Less cellulite

–Less brain fog

–More mental energy for work

–More muscle energy for play

–More money in your wallet from less eating out

–Improved libido

–Marked results from your exercise routine

–Less acne

–Less allergies 

–And less risk for disease and aging too quickly!!

So since you have read and made it to this point, I know you don’t want to throw triscuits at me too badly. Why wouldn’t you get rid of these foods if you have that much to look forward to? 
Remember: age is more than a number, it’s also how good you can feel when you rid your life of the substances and situations that age and damage you.
