What’s SUP in Wasaga?
If you know Wasaga Beach, in Ontario Canada you know it’s not really known for it’s luxury beach vacation, but rather more for the college kids and after-prom crowd to chill at the beach. Think of a modern day “Gidget” Movie and that’s what you get in this small town. But if you are looking for a cheap getaway with water on every side of you for all your SUP fitness travel needs, there is a place that can not only satisfy your comfort and modern living needs while chilling at the beach, as well as be an ideal spot for your fitness fun!
Wasaga Riverdocks Suites is pretty much the newest hotel in town, located right on the River and just an easy stroll to the beach. If you are a runner, you will love the running paths along the road, or running through the small town itself is nice too. And what about trying the fastest growing water sport while in town? “The SUP Hut” down the road from the hotel, offers stand up paddling lessons at a great rate.
I was there recently training new instructors and this river is a perfectly calm spot for renting a board and hopping on the water! And after the fun on the water, head back the Riverdocks for comfortable beds and clean, clean, clean digs!
All the amenities are there for you, fridge, microwave, dishes, and of course, the necessity: the coffee pot. Other than some thin walls where you can hear your partying little after-prommers next to you, this hotel is a great stay! Loved the couches and fire-pits alongside the water-way, and the front desk staff is user-friendly.
Not to much on free stuff here, other than free wi-fi, so breakfast is on your own and so is coffee, but what they lack in free stuff, they make up in outdoor grills and a beautiful riverfront location. In a city of mediocre appeal, this little hotel makes you feel a bit luxurious and if you travel with a small babe like my little mermaid, you will feel safe, secure and happy knowing they can crawl around on the floor and play safely outside, which makes your vacation just a little more relaxing too!
Notes: I recommend the SUP Hut for Sup and Jet Ski rentals
I recommend the little italian place (can’t remember the name) on the corner next to the SUP hut for the best Espresso ever!
